Did you notice how pleased Pastor Wright seemed with himself, playing to a national audience? More theatrics than theology. Defying you to condemn his remarks, yes the ones taken out of context. The same ugly, stupid, hateful and fallacious remarks that were meant to inflame and delude his congregation. The same remarks that would have doubtless appeared temperate, benign and enlightened within the enveloping folds of an uplifting sermon.
Regrettably, I’ve never heard that sermon, but I’m willing to listen should it be made available. Is it possible that the presumptive Democratic nominee also took the Pastor’s words out of context when he condemned them? Has he not heard the mitigating sermon in its entirety?
Much to the chagrin of Senator Obama, Pastor Wright may yet achieve footnote status, within a political context.
